I had an outstanding experience at the Public Storage facility located in Rockaway, NJ. I needed help choosing between an outdoor vs an indoor unit. The manager was so helpful, taking the time to show me both units, going over the pros and cons of both. I ultimately chose the indoor unit, saving my family money as well. I highly recommend this location.

Making move-in reservations online has always been a pain. I made a purchase of the wrong storage type for Saturday, December 13th. I went in-person to the Mount Pleasant, Dover location & a young, short guy with black hair was working the Thursday shift around 12PM. I asked him if i could look at an example of what my storage unit would look like because I didn’t want to wait until Saturday & have an issue move-in day. He was had an ill-mannered attitude & I barley greeted me as I walked in. As he walked me to the maintenance storage to show me an example unit his demeanor was very stuck up & sassy. As soon as I saw the unit I knew it wasn’t for me. I asked him if there was a way to upgrade to a bigger unit & he said “There is no bigger units available unless you wanted one for the 3rd floor.” He never offered me any more solutions or an option to cancel. He gave me cut throat responses to all my inquiries. As I stood there, unsure what to do, he walked away from me & went back to the front desk leaving me talking to myself. He had cut me off & had me sit with the mistake I had made. After this interaction I went home. I didn’t even want to bother with that guy anyone with the little he did. I called the Rockaway location a different hour that same day… A bright & enthusiastic voice answered the phone. The moment I spoke to Dawn I knew she was going to be the answer to all my problems!!! She listened to my situation, had product knowledge, empathized with me & resolved! She had the patience to walk me through a new booking process & assured me she was there to help. She gave me options of different locations that had the storage unit I needed. All of my stress magically went away. She stayed on the phone with me until I was done filling out the online form & made sure I did not make the same mistake again. Dawn needs a raise & if she is not a manager yet put her in the position!! If it wasn’t for her you would gotten a 1 star rating. Her dedication is exemplary; the whole team could learn from her work ethic. Thank you again!! ❤️❤️❤️
I just rented a unit in rockaway location. Manager Dawn was very polite and professional. she made the whole process very seamless. only one thing need to better job on snow cleaning and salting the road surface. it's my first day and i almost fallen twice luckly i was able to grab door handle and saved my self from falling. pleas add this issue. respectfully, Mickey Chopra #305
Beware!!! Bait and switch!!! I rented a unit on Jan 19 2026, 4 months later on April 28 I was informed my rate was increasing by 60% from $35 to $55 a month!!! As a storage rental business they know people are at their mercy and many people cannot just move out after only 4 months which is EXACTLY how they get you. Now I have one month to move all my stuff out. Scammers. The place is also a hole. No heat or AC so your items will suffer and the carts are always missing.
Hiked the price without intimation within 4 months of signing up. When enquired shoved the terms which is fine. But within 4 months hiking by 50%? Done with this business. I paused the autopay as the payment was looking higher. Then guess what, they shoved late fee of $20 for $30 unit. They won’t accept the lag of not intimating me about the non receipt or non disclosure of rent hike. But they would want the $20 late fee for $30 unit. What a shady business practice. Cancelling and moving to some alternate storage. Day light robbery business and shady business practice.
