Security gate always left open (not sure why they gave me a gate code since the gate never closed.. I went 4 or 5 times over the course of a week, day and night, and never needed to use my code. Also the outdoor units are extremely poorly lit. Lastly, there is no bathroom available on the entire premises, inside or outside. Had I known any of these things before committing financially, I would have chosen to keep my things somewhere else. For those of you searching for storage in Pittsfield, I’m pretty sure that while the local U-Haul storage facility might be more expensive, I know that the units are climate controlled(which they are not at extra space), and would imagine they are better lit, and at least have a port o potty that paying customers can use to go to the bathroom.

My wife and I moved across the country, which was incredibly stressful for all of us. When we arrived, I had already looked at multiple local storage options, but had yet to choose one. Our first night, we were sitting in a local diner, and asked our server if they had any recommendations of the local storage availabilities. She IMMEDIATELY said, "oh Kim at Extra Space Storage is AMAZING, and she does an excellent job managing the property!" I went online, liked the pricing and options, and reserved a unit. I called the office the next day, and spoke with Kim about how it all works. She was, indeed, fantastic! Incredibly helpful, kind, and just the best customer service I've ever had. For those who don't know, the stress of travel can really take a toll mentally, and sometimes easy & friendly customer service can be an absolute GODSEND. Which Kim has proven to be. When I arrived at the location, I didn't have to go into the office, as the company makes things SUPER easy. So, we got to our unit, where there was a lock left inside for us, and we began unloading. At some point, Kim came up the laneway in her golf cart, introduced herself, and we made some good chatting. I've had several good conversations with her since, and was our first true "welcome" to the Berkshires. Kim truly is an absolute TREASURE, and the perfect helpful person when you need her. She makes sure Extra Space is the best storage place around!
