⭐⭐⭐⭐ I have been a customer with Extra Space Storage for approximately six years and, overall, my experience has been positive. During that time, I rented a climate-controlled unit at the Williamson location, and I have always found the facility to be clean, secure, well-maintained, and easily accessible. The units are spacious, and I never had concerns about the safety of my belongings. The staff has also been professional and helpful whenever I needed assistance. My primary concern has been the frequency and magnitude of rate increases. Like many customers, I was initially attracted by the introductory rate offered for the first few months. However, once that period ended, my monthly rate nearly doubled. While I understand that the company policy allows for rate increases with a 30-day notice, it can be frustrating for long-term, loyal customers who consistently pay on time to see rates continue to climb year after year. What I found particularly surprising is that rates seemed to only decrease when I called to inquire about canceling my unit or questioned the increases. At that point, I was informed that a representative could submit a request for a rate reduction, which would then require management review and approval. While I appreciate that the option exists, it feels backwards that customers must proactively request consideration rather than having loyalty incentives or retention programs built into the process. I believe Extra Space Storage could significantly improve customer retention by implementing clear qualifications for loyalty-based discounts or rate reductions. Long-term customers who maintain good payment history should not have to threaten cancellation before receiving consideration for more competitive pricing. The facility itself is excellent, and I have been satisfied with the cleanliness, security, and overall quality of service. However, the recurring rate increases have made me reconsider my future storage needs. If I am ultimately going to pay premium pricing, I may explore alternatives such as PODS, which would provide the added convenience of having access to my belongings directly on my own property. Overall, I would recommend Extra Space Storage for the quality of their facilities and customer service, but prospective customers should be aware of potential rate increases over time and factor that into their long-term storage plans.

I have had a 7 x 16 first floor unit at ExtraSpace storage for about six months now. Here are the pros and cons: on the pro side, the corridors And the unit itself were super clean when I moved in and the hallways and elevators are well maintained; I encountered a cleaning person with a cart full of supplies this morning. The interior temperature stays comfortable and the lighting is very good, although some of it is triggered by motion and goes off when there is no movement for a while. There are always carts available, unlike the inside storage Area I was using at Acorn storage. Now the cons: The Phone app simply does not work to unlock the exterior entry doors, So I always have to enter 10 characters on the keypad to open the doors. Second, my introductory storage rate was almost doubled after the four months introductory period, But I was given a reduced rate after complaining. Still, the increase was about 30%. Overall, I am happy with my storage experience at extra space storage, and expect to keep my unit long-term.
I called today and spoke with Vanessa at the Port Orange, Williamson Blvd location and all I can say is she made my rather hectic day so much better. She was completely understanding and very cooperative and helpful. Calling places asking for assistance is not always easy, but Jessica made it not only easy, but her genuine caring demeanor put a smile on our faces. Thank you Jessica! All people in customer service should emulate you and your work ethic. You are a gem!
A really great storage unit! Shakira was immensely helpful during a really rough patch after hurricane Helene for me. I live out of state in North Carolina and I struggled and she was really understanding to my situation. My stuff was safe and sound. They have dollies available, really clean bathrooms, very secure. They are open till 10 AM and I was able to be there by myself late without any worries at all. Super clean facility, too! Thank you for everything Shakira :)
