I had an extremely disappointing experience with Public Storage at the Fair Oaks location in Pasadena. As a new customer, I was denied access to my unit simply because my ID reflected my married name while the agreement listed my prior name. This is a common, legally verifiable situation, yet the staff refused to work with me to resolve it. I escalated the issue to the manager, Alfred, who showed absolutely no empathy or professionalism. There was no apology, no attempt to problem-solve, and no willingness to review legal documentation for my name change. What made this even more frustrating was the lack of follow-through. I was told someone would call me back — that never happened. I continued to follow up myself and was later told a district manager would be contacting me. That call also never came. The entire experience felt dismissive, rigid, and lacking in basic customer care. A simple request for documentation could have resolved everything, but instead I was met with indifference and zero accountability. Very disappointing.
They will scam you for your money and send you to collections!!! I wish knew about this before this messy management created unnecessary distress in my life. I originally booked and paid for a storage unit online in September but realized it was too small and was transferred to a different unit right away. I never used the first unit, and I was told I’d get a refund for it. That refund never came. After waiting over 15 business days and calling multiple times with no results, I finally disputed the charge with my credit card company and got the money back that way. Months later, even though I paid in full and closed out my account properly, I was shocked to receive a call from a collection agency claiming I still owed money for the unit I never used. When I contacted the property manager, they admitted that the refund had been cancelled — meaning I never actually received any refund from Public Storage. Yet, I’m now being pursued for payment that I don’t owe. This has been an incredibly frustrating and stressful experience. Poor communication, broken promises, and no accountability. I paid on time for the unit I actually used and should not be penalized for an internal billing mistake. I strongly urge others to double-check their billing and account records if renting here.
Jose was great very helpful it looked like he was about to go on break but he dropped everything to assist me and didn’t rush me at all ! I appreciate him and I will be renting once I get my keys!
